Throughout his Consultant career Mr Clayson has been dedicated to the management of trauma including multiply injured patients and those who have sustained complex trauma of the pelvis, hip, and lower limb. He established the NW Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma Service in 1994 and is a nationally and internationally recognised expert in the management of such injuries. He is actively involved in the development of trauma services across Greater Manchester and Northwest England as well as supporting the Ethiopian Ministry of Health develop its trauma services in Hawassa, Southern Ethiopia having established The Northwest Orthopaedic and Trauma Alliance for Africa (www.nota4africa.org.uk) in 2016

For over 25 years Mr Clayson has been producing medical reports, attending joint meetings of experts, conferences with Counsel and appearing as an expert witness in Court, receiving instructions equally from both claimant and defendant solicitors. As a senior clinician with extensive experience as an NHS Medical Director, Mr Clayson is well equipped to provide a high quality opinion in Clinical Negligence matters within his specialty areas of trauma management, primary and revision lower limb joint replacement, arthroscopy of the hip and knee including soft tissue injuries/ligament reconstruction of the knee and young adult hip disorders including congenital hip dysplasia/dislocation , hip osteotomy and hip replacement in young adult patients.
